HARMS Study

Dear Uveitis Specialist.

Thank you for your interest in participating in this project. I would like to invite you to participate in our survey on COVID-19-related Harm to Uveitis patients.

If any of your Uveitis patients may have come to ocular/systemic harm due to any factors related to the COVID-19 pandemic, then we are aiming to collate this information. Examples of causes of harm include, but are not limited to: inappropriate triage in a telephone clinic, inability to access hospital eye service due to societal/transport issues, fear of attending a hospital eye service etc.

Please use the link below. This can be used months from now or multiple times in one clinic today.

Please keep a record of the patient's local hospital number and provide a suitable ‘code for the patient' (e.g. Bristol Eye Hospital Patient 1 = BEH1). At the end of the study we will send back a summary of all the data you have submitted for your own records/audit purposes. It is important that no patient identifiable information is uploaded/shared for this project.

It you see a patient you have reported previously and wish to comment on their progress. Please use the link below, (this link can be used repeatedly as needed):

It will be important to register your data collection locally, but this can be easily done as a Service evaluation project via your audit department. We will share our already approved project documents (including service evaluation registration form, and Data protection impact assessment(DPIA)) with you, which you can easily utilise in your hospital.

For additional information, queries and/or for copies of the service evaluation registration/DPIA forms please contact sonja.smith@nnuh.nhs.uk or tomasburke@nhs.net.

We look forward to and appreciate your collaboration on this important project.

Yours sincerely,

Dr S Mansfield Smith, Mr T Burke.
